This evening I had an interesting conversation with a colleague who has come to Beni from Kinshasa for two days. He was asking me about my work as a political affairs officer here in Beni. The conversation made me realise that I am in quite a responsible position - the logic is something like this: my job is to report to the UN representative in Congo on events here. This means that his decisions in this region are based on what I say and write. Which, in turn, decides the policy of the United Nations in the region. Therefore what I do has big consequenses on the population here - this is quite deep thought so I will stop here!!
