Autumn in Paris 2
Autumn in Paris was busy with plenty of cultural events. I find that a good source of events are the various national cultural centres (see list on the right side of my blog).
Here is a picture of some water sculptures by Jean Tinguely, the Swiss artist from Basel. These sculptures are just outside the Pompidou Centre. His sculptures can also be seen in the centre of Basel (see Visit to Basel, Switzerland: 28-30 September). This square is a nice escape from busy Paris. There are several cafes along one side of the square and a church at the end of the square.
On a Sunday morning I like to take a walk in Luxembourg Gardens, at the top of Boulevard St. Michel. The gardens are where the French Senate is located. The gardens look very nice in autumn, when the leaves on the horse chestnut trees are changing colour or in spring when the leaves are a fresh green colour.
I don't often go to the Eiffel Tower - it's just too crowded for me. However, by night it looks magical with it's thousands of sparkling lights... though they only sparkle for the first 15 minutes of every hour...
This day I was meeting some friends to go dor a wine degustation (tasting) on the Maxim's boat, which is moored nearby on the Seine. The Eiffel Tower is a great subject for photography - there are just so many angles!
Here's a view from a friends apartment along a typical Parisian street (this is rue des Ecoles). Paris looks so nice by night.. it is well illuminated by cars, street lights, traffic lights and the boats that travel along the Seine.
Here is a picture of my friend Rob (aka DJ Whistlepunk) spinning at the Bistro des Artistes. You can hear his funk and soul every other Wednesday and every other Sunday...
I went to a very enjoyable concert at the Danish Foundation at Cite Universitaire. The musicians had a strange edwardian air about them with their unusual clothes and looks...
